I missed the live Apple rollout a couple of days ago, and missed this feature – peek and pop – in the summaries I read. 3D touch with peek and pop makes one handed operation much easier and more intuitive, and enhances the experience. Pretty soon we’ll all take it for granted…

With iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, we’re introducing an entirely new dimension of interaction. For the first time, iPhone recognizes force. 3D Touch is the next generation of Multi-Touch. It’s a clear example of how hardware and software designed together can create a singular experience.
It’s hard to imagine life without a smart phone anymore, yet the true multifunction smart phone has been around for less than ten years (June 29th, 2007). And the advances made in technology since then (and not just by Apple) continue to astound.
And imagine the improvement in the FileMaker interface if/when FileMaker engineers add this functionality–press a graph and hold, peek at the underlying data, then pop the underlying layout if desired. Complete control of the drill down process. And I’m sure many of you out there will think of more inventive ways to use it.
Peek and pop using 3 dimensions–incredible.
