A REPORT ON THE MAC PRO AND FILEMAKER IN THE FIELD:
Real life experiences give a better feel that just raw speed testing you normally read about. There are other factors to consider than the metrics on how much faster it is. For example, how the end users perceive the change is critical: Does it feel faster? Does it save time? Does it slow down as much during busy periods? Do reports run faster? If so, how much faster?
The IT guys also need feedback: Was the system easy to configure? Does it backup quicker? Was it easy to configure? How fast can it be brought back online in the event of an server restart, power outage, or hardware failure?
The developer gets to see how much faster the system is with a real world solution that already has base metrics established.
The standard speed testing articles are certainly useful, but it’s nice to see real world results. Thanks, Colibri!
