FileMaker 12 and 13 both make extensive use of CSS–it’s what makes the layouts great looking and easy to modify. But there is a cost to be paid–slower load times, in particular–if you start changing individual items the wrong way. Or if your solution was designed pre-FileMaker 12 and comes with baggage already.
This is important, because long load times frustrate users, especially over a LAN or WAN, or with Webdirect.
This new, free tool from RC Consulting analyzes a layout and returns a list of all the local CSS for analysis and fixing. Once the anlysis is complete, you can sort the results and look for duplicate CSS. One option for a quick fix: Use a button to strip out the local CSS, paste the layout objects into a new layout in your solution, and fix up that layout using the theme tools to optimize it for speed loading.
