Dashboard Techniques, HTML Signatures, Building from Scratch, and more
From Jason Erickson of Linear Blue (see his FileMaker Pro Gurus Interview from DevCon 2015 here), Advanced Reporting and Dashboard Techniques:
This session is directed at intermediate-level FileMaker developers who have experience building standard reports. We discuss how to get the most out of displaying your data, whether in a dashboard format for desktop or mobile, or as complex analytics output to PDF or Excel. The session includes real-world examples and offers tips and tricks on how to achieve these results.
HTML Email Signatures
Matt Larson of Cimbura.com offers a nifty little downloadable demo file that helps you make an HTML Signature file for FileMaker generated emails in the Apple Mail program. According to the comments, it also works with other setups, as well.
Email has proven to be a critical part of running a business. Whether it’s a small shop that monitors a single inbox or a large corporation tasked with maintaining thousands of accounts, everyone uses it. We, along with many other professionals, have been guilty of attaching images as part of our signatures.

How Innovative Ideas Arise
From James Clear, great advice on innovation and building from Scratch:
The most creative innovations are often new combinations of old ideas. Innovative thinkers don’t create, they connect. Furthermore, the most effective way to make progress is usually by making 1 percent improvements to what already works rather than breaking down the whole system and starting over.

I especially like how starts off with a story of a man trying to build his own toaster from scratch.
Clear is always a good read, and has developed a very large following. Put him on your RSS.
